The DeathAdder does bring that sensor, but not the form factor. Some say that the "floating" or acceleration problems that they've encountered makes it difficult for them to recommend the device and that an optical sensor is the way to go at a lower DPI of around 1800. However, I've read online about many concerns when it comes to the laser sensor that's being used in the Taipan and the extremely high DPI it uses. So, on form-factor alone, I believe the Taipan is the way to go. I believe that based on how long I played shooters with an ambidextrous mouse - that this is no-doubt going to feel familiar to me when playing those types of games. I eventually replaced it with this Naga2014 that sits on my desk currently. Razer Synapse 2.0 will support all Razers next generation products, such as the Star Wars: The Old Republic product line as well as legacy products like the Razer Naga. I acquired the G500 to replace the DeathAdder after it fell prey to a new kitten in the house.heh. I started with the Logitech Mouseman Dual-Optical, and eventually moved onto the original DeathAdder. Since my competitive shooter days and the last ambidextrous mouse I was using at the time, I've had 2 Logitech gaming mice & 2 Razer mice. Looking back, I seem to have spent the majority of my time honing my skills competitively on ambidextrous mice. It was not until AFTER SoF2 that I moved onto anything ergonomical in nature - though at that point, I was no longer playing anything competitively. All 3 of those games I played competitively on different ladders at the time. I began playing SoF2 with the MP Beta and through the game's entire shelf-life. Both of these mice were also ambidextrous. From there, I replaced the Sidewinder with the BoomSlang during Q3A and used it for a long time until finally replacing it with the Razer Copperhead. I had gotten my own computer midway through my time in Quake2 - and began gaming on one of the most popular mice at the time, the Microsoft Sidewinder.
I began online gaming with Quake 2 and not long thereafter moved over to Quake3Arena. Little preface to this is a small chunk of my gaming and hardware history - so you'll understand my thought process a bit more. So, that brings me to my two choices - the DeathAdder Chroma, or the Taipan.? Razer DeathAdder 1800 Razer DeathAdder 2000 Crossfire Edition Razer DeathAdder 2000 White Edition Razer DeathAdder 2013 Razer DeathAdder 3.5G Black Razer DeathAdder 3. However, I feel like I need something different for shooters to play like I was always used to playing in the past. Now, don't get me wrong - as a guy who plays WoW and other similar games, the Naga is great and I still intend to keep it around and use it for those games. I had mentioned in another thread that because of the way I tend to grip my mouse, I feel like my "loose" grip tends to make me more inaccurate than I want to be - and it's costing me on the leaderboards. I say this having been using my Naga2014 for some time now. So - I am in the market for a shooter-friendly mouse.
